MDV - Wedding in Venice Frequent Asking Questions What is the difference between a blessing, religious, and civil ceremony? There is no required paperwork for a Blessing Ceremony. A couple can have a Religious Ceremony in chosen country, depending on couples of religious beliefs. Before this is done, civil certification is usually required, as well special religious documents are also usually required. A Civil Ceremony is performed in Town Halls and city Registry Offices. This ceremony is recognized in most countries as legal and binding. Please check the specific Legal Requirements and Religious Requirements , and if you have any doubts to the validity of the marriage once you get back home, please check with your state's attorney general. Who performs the blessing ceremony? What credentials do they have? The blessing ceremony is basically a non-denominational ceremony in which the minister, priest, or master of the ceremony talks about love, happiness, and a lifelong journey together. Each ceremony is different, and can be changed to your specifications. You may write your own vows, and the degree of formality/informality is up to you. We speak directly to these people to arrange your ceremony, as many of them do not speak English- however, at the ceremony, you will be provided with a translator if you wish. Our wedding coordinators will always be present at your wedding to help you with anything you need. Are we able to create our own wedding package? Of course you may create your own wedding package. We have created wedding packages so that you have the basics included at a lower price than if you would separately choose everything. You can change the wedding package to suit your needs, but with possible costs, or reductions in price. If, for example, the bridal bouquet is white roses, and you want pink roses- this can be easily accommodated with no price change. But if the bridal bouquet is white roses, and you want exotic orchids, this can probably be accommodated, but with a price adjustment. Are there any hidden costs ? No! We pride ourselves on offering a “what you see is what you get” pricing scheme. All costs are published on the website and will be included in your final budget which must be agreed upon with each client before we accept payment. No hidden fees, period. What is the easiest way to get married abroad? Some couples get married at home in a civil ceremony followed by a small chapel ceremony with their closest friends and relatives, then have a blessing ceremony abroad. This allows you to celebrate your wedding abroad with your partner, but also includes your family and friends. What is the language of the ceremony ? All civil (registrar) ceremonies are in the Italian language and are translated into English (or into your native language). All church ceremonies are automatically in English (or into your native language). It would be great if we could include something else to be read at the ceremony, together with what is legally required. Is it possible ? Yes, but it must be agreed upon with the priest or presiding power. There are differences between civil and church ceremonies. People can actively participate in the church ceremonies, there can be different readings, songs etc, but it is necessary to discuss it with the priest before the ceremony. It is not possible to participate actively in the civil ceremonies, there are some standard procedures that must be observed. Yes, your guests can be at the ceremony hall, but can not sing or have speeches. If you want to have your own speech, you can do it after the change of the rings. What is the ceremony music like ? At most of the ceremonies, there are live pipe organs. There is an extensive play list available for your selection, as well as at some venues, you can supply you own request for what should be played. As an extra option, additional instruments other than organs can be hired. What kind of flowers can I have for my bouquet and boutonnière ? Usually all kinds of flowers are available. However some flowers may not be available due to the seasonality. What is the difference between wedding package and Tailor-made wedding? The wedding packages are complete wedding packages designed for the bride and groom. They typically include a small ceremony and some more services. There are some extras available that are mentioned in each package. What are the Tailor-made weddings ? Tailor-made weddings are personalized events that allow the bride and groom to design a wedding ceremony and private reception at the location of their choice, as well as make desired flower selections, modes of transportation and more…Your Wedding Coordinator will work with you to establish a budget that meets all these requirements. I want to celebrate my wedding anniversary with a vow renewal. Can you help me? Sure. Congratulations!!! More and more couples are choosing to celebrate their love by renewing their vows in the one of the most romantic cities in the world. In fact, any of our Wedding Packages or Tailor-made Wedding elements can be personalized for your vow renewal. Stag and Hen weekends are also possible. Can I give the Vows renewal package to my parents as a gift ? Sure you can. By the way, what a great idea. Venice is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and we are sure they will love it. The church ceremony is long and complicated for me, and I am worrying that I will make a mistake. How can I avoid it? Yes, you are right, church ceremonies are more difficult than civil ceremonies, and there are a few procedures that must be observed. The best way how to avoid these complications is to have a rehearsal. This is a general run-through before the ceremony, and we will tell you how everything flow, step by step, and you can try it with your guests together. Do you arrange accommodations locally or do I have to find the hotel myself? We can help you with accommodation recommendations and booking at discounted rates, as well as airport transfers. Also some great deals for air tickets are sometimes available. We can also advise you with some options of how to get around locally, too. Are there any legal requirements in the Italian Republic? For a complete list of paperwork please click here. Do I need Visa to enter Italian Republic ? As you know, it changes quite often, so we will recommend that you contact the Italian embassy in your country. What are the payment conditions ? The non-refundable deposit of 50% of the package value is due upon the confirmation of the wedding ceremony. Full payment is due 30 day prior the wedding date. Are changes allowed to be made after full payment has been submitted? Some changes can be made, but if the time of the changes are less than 10 days to the wedding date, we will converse with the wedding coordinator to see if any extra charges will be incurred. Extra payments may be necessary and should be paid directly to the wedding coordinator at the time of the scheduled meeting before the ceremony.
