**** Hotel Monaco & Grand Canal

The Hotel is situated where the waters of the Grand Canal enter the St. Mark’s Basin in the very heart of the city and only a few steps from St. Mark’s Square. The Hotel overlooks the Grand Canal and has majestic views of the Church of Santa Maria della Salute and the island of San Giorgio and it is just next to Cà Giustinian the historical site of the Biennale. It is a romantic backdrop for an unforgettable holiday.
View of the lagoon changes constantly throughout the year but remains superb: the Basilica della Salute, the tip of the Dogana, the Island of San Giorgio and the Church of the Redentore are the scene of a dream come true.
From 1638 the building, originally belonging to the Dandolo family, hosted the first "Ridotto Pubblico", a place to which nobility and people from all walks of life, (adventurers, courtesans, swindlers, and travelers) would retire for pleasure and intrigue. Giacomo Casanova considered this place the ideal backdrop for his conquests.

The recent restoration has managed to revive, with a contemporary feel, the atmosphere of this historic building.
The Hotel Monaco has 100 rooms furnished in grand style for those who want to stay in Venice and become part of its history.

It is now possible to organize conferences for over 250 people and banqueting for 600 people in the very heart of Venice.
Another eight halls are available for seminars and receptions
Contemporary notes are introduced throughout: mosaics, glassware by Venetian masters, glass walls and ceilings that enhance the furnishings and décor of the leading names in design.

The rooms are elegant and at the same time subdued. The Venetian craft and creativity can be seen at their best in the precious fabrics, murrhine glass, mosaics, magnificent chandeliers. Baroque and minimalism live gracefully together.

For those who wish to stay somewhere more intimate, the Palazzo del Selvadego is just a short distance from the Hotel Monaco.
The Palazzo of 40 rooms overlooks the Napoleonic Wing by Piazza San Marco. The rooms have a calm, relaxing atmosphere and express the uniqueness and charm of Venetian culture.
